Fay Archive: "In Japan" – FW24 Campaign

Hi Reader,

A few months ago, I shared some photos from my trip to Japan. Two intense weeks spent between the wild landscapes of Hokkaido and the chaos of Tokyo.

More than just a work trip, it was an encounter with five incredible people, each with a unique story. They are the faces of the new Fay Archive FW24 campaign.

I had the chance to closely follow their lives: from the silent mountains to workshops overlooking the frozen sea, to the crowded city streets.

With the videos, I aimed to capture fragments of reality, authentic moments. We used only natural light and ambient sounds, with no filters. We wanted everything to feel as real as possible, because it’s the imperfections that make the story honest. The people we met welcomed us with great openness, enriching every moment of the campaign.

You’ll be among the first to see the videos in preview, and I’d love to hear your feedback!

Talk soon,
Marco

P.S. I’m also excited to share that I'm in the final stages of preparing for FOREVER HIC, the short film I’ll be shooting in a few weeks. If you’re interested in supporting the crowdfunding campaign, now is a great time to get involved!

AIDA: let's talk about the future I spent a year alongside a group of young researchers from Politecnico di Milano who are developing and testing autonomous vehicles. From this experience, AIDA was born—a 55-minute documentary I wrote and directed, which I’ve just presented at the Royal Palace of Caserta. And I’m really happy to share the trailer with you, as a preview. When they asked me to tell their story, I was instantly intrigued. I thought: why aren’t these cars already driving through...

How to use AI without losing your soul As the world fills up with AI-generated everything, I’ve spent the winter on stage and with a pen in hand. Why? I use AI too. I’m using it right now to reflect and structure these ideas. But I use it as an accelerator, not as a creator. It’s time to stop feeling guilty about it and start thinking more critically about how we integrate AI into our creativity. What does it mean to find your own voice in an era where AI can write for you, generate images,...

When East Meets West Trieste, January. I’m sitting in a café just a few steps from the Hotel Savoia, where When East Meets West—one of the most important co-production forums in Europe—is taking place. Outside, the Bora wind blows, that icy gust sweeping down from the Balkans. In front of me, a capo in B (a macchiato served in a glass) and a producer. We’re talking about the short film I want to shoot with my daughter. I pitch it to him, and I see his eyes light up; I can feel that this film...
